Before becoming a financial planner, JoAnne worked as a mortgage agent, and had relationships with several real estate agents. When JoAnne expanded her practice into financial planning in 2018, many of her real estate agent connections became clients. Prior to October of 2020 real estate agents in Ontario were not allowed to incorporate their businesses.
When incorporating their business via a PREC (Personal Real Estate Corporation) became an option, JoAnne learnt what needed to be known on behalf of her existing clients to help them understanding if forming a PREC was the right decision for them or not.
Since then, JoAnne’s knowledge and experience has expanded, and she has become a subject matter expert on all things PREC.
JoAnne is passionate about providing and improving financial literacy for real estate professionals through workshops, presentations, and one-on-one consultation.
JoAnne thoroughly enjoys working in this niche market and thus, ‘The PREC Planners” was formed.
The PREC Planners works as a division of Ancitrine Wealth Planners. Ancitrine Wealth Planners provides wealth building and management plans for families and individuals with the same quality of care, diligence, and process as clients of The PREC Planners.
CFP, CEO and Lead Financial Planner
As our CEO and lead financial planner, JoAnne (you can call her Jo) has been working in the financial industry since 2016. She has been continuously pursuing further education and training with her CLU designation next on her list.
Both JoAnne and her husband are self-employed business owners and entrepreneurs at heart and have been a dual-self employed household since 2015. She is passionate about providing financial literacy for the real estate professionals as she understands the challenges and rewards that come from being self made and building your own future.
JoAnne has an enthusiastic approach to financial planning and has a talent for taking complicated and boring topics, like corporate financial planning, and making them simple and easy to understand. JoAnne loves presenting and teaching and is on a mission to improve financial literacy for real estate agents in Ontario.
JoAnne and her husband have five children together and are suckers for a never ending “to do” list so they bought a hobby farm in rural Ottawa to keep them on their toes. When not working on client files, they’re working as a family on their property. There’s always some chaos or an adventure to be had and she considers it to be a great day when she can end the day beside the campfire.
Office Manager
As our office manager, Dawn brings with her over 25 years of client service and office administration experience. From managing client relations to ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, Dawn uses her high level of attention to detail and organization skills to keep the team on track.
Dawn and JoAnne have known and worked with each other in various roles since 2015. Jokingly, we think Dawn’s most valuable skillset to the organization is her ability to understand what we call “Jo-isms”. She keeps JoAnne focused and on course, which is no easy feat! Dawn can maintain high standards of service and communication even when there’s multiple projects and files on the go.
Dawn has always had an interest in finance and has held various positions in administrative accounting offices and obtained her LLQP designation in 2024 to increase her knowledge and ability to provide our clients with superior service.

We believe in being transparent about fees and it’s important that our clients understand how we are compensated for our time and expertise.
We work with a thorough Five Phased Planning Process to build you an individualized financial plan. (You can read about our Five Phases here). The planning process, from start to finish, takes the team at The PREC Planners a minimum of 25-30 hours of work and we are compensated for our time and skills by charging a flat, one-time fee, which can be written off as a business expense to your PREC.
The planning fee varies based on complexity of the individual plan. Items such as holding companies, other operating businesses, multiple rental properties with shared ownership structures, or cross-border planning can increase the level of complexity. To discuss your individual planning needs and get an estimate for the scope of work needed, you can book a complimentary discovery call here.
After the base financial plan is developed and delivered, if you choose to onboard with our firm as an ongoing investment client, we are compensated by fees on your investments. This can vary on the portfolio. We are fee conscious and strive to provide you with high quality investments and service for the fees.
We never lock-in our client’s investments and your investments are free to move or change at any time.
If insurance is needed as a risk mitigation or wealth building tool as part for your plan, we are compensated on a commission base from the insurance carrier directly.
We work as a brokerage for both your insurance and investment needs and are not beholden to any one company.
